Hot Chocolate Stand

Hailey and Hannah selling hot chocolate for 50 cents a pop!

Saturday I had a garage sale with my mom and Kristen (sister-in-law). The girls decided the night before that they wanted to have a hot chocolate stand. They charged 50 cents a cup and started out just sitting at their table waiting for people to ask. Then they finally got up enough nerve to go ask themselves! I couldn't believe Hailey asked! They were so funny! They had their money spent before they even got it....Hannah wanted a toy from Wal-Mart and Hailey wanted stuff for her "new" room. She is wanting to change her room up. We are thinking pink and brown so we don't have to change wall colors and the carpet is brown. We are looking at bedding and she is trying really hard to talk us into a new bed. We'll see....it's not likely with Christmas coming up and all. They had a good time and with PopPop's help, they grossed $16.00! We did well with our sale, too. And the girls had their eyes on our money (like they wouldn't be getting it some way or another anyway!). My money went towards winter clothes. The kids had nothing warm to wear and absolutely no warm church clothes that fit. I still need to pick up a few things but we are almost done!

Megan's Church Carnival

Spraying spider webs everywhere!

Hayden's creation.

Batgirl!

Here are some pics of the kids getting ready to go to Megan's (Hailey's friend) church carnival. Mrs. Tammy was the organizer and she did a great job! The kids really enjoyed it! Thanks for inviting us guys! Of course, I didn't have their costumes ready yet, so they had to use last years which was bat girl and spider man. Check them out!

Just Me and My Dad

Hayden's 1st huntin' trip

Today, Brian and Hayden went to church and then prepared for Hayden's first huntin' trip. He was so cute decked out in his camo and orange. The story is pretty funny, too. Brian bought a two-man tree stand so he could take the kids. They rode his 4-wheeler out to the spot and climbed all the way up in the thing. Guess what Hayden's first words were? "Daddy, I got to go poop!" Brian said he got him distracted and I guess it passed. Hayden said before they left that he wanted to "catch" and bird and eat the meat! Well, all they saw was a few birds and a bat. His favorite part was picking the bark off of the tree. He has two pocket's full of bark! He had to make sure I saw it when he got home, too!

Saturday, October 20, 2007

Hayden had a soccer game Saturday morning. He was so cute. He actually kicked it at least 10 or 15 times! It was so funny though. As soon as he would kick it, he would look up and smile. Then he would start running off the field to me and said, "Momma are you proud of me? Did I do good?" It was so sweet. One time, he ran off and said, "Can I call Mimi?" We got a kick out of it! After soccer, I got some "mommie" time and headed to LR with my mom to do a bit of shopping. It's just an excuse to get to go eat somewhere good.....Carino's! We haven't been shopping, especially in LR, in FOREVER! We had a good time. Then we had to get back because she had a hot date with Daddy....it was their 35 year anniversary!!!! Happy Anniversary!!!! Hailey and I went to stay the night in Russellville at my aunt and uncle's house to help take care of my grandmother so they could go to church. Hailey was so excited to get to go and even said while we were there..."I can't believe we're having a sleepover!" She was very well behaved and got to stay up super late...but that's OK. We had a good visit with everyone. Brian and Hayden had big plans, too. Brian cooked deer meat for the two of them and then they watched E.T. Hayden got to sleep with Daddy in our bed, which is always a big treat!

America's Next Top Model :)

Hailey was invited to a birthday party tonight. It was a glamour girl party. They were supposed to dress up glamorous and they would have their hair, nails, and make-up done. She had a great time and looked so cute. These are pictures before the makeup and stuff.

Brian went hunting all day and Hayden and I had a date (Wal-Mart and Subway)! We had a good time together.

Parent Teacher Conference

Today I had to go to Hailey's parent/teacher conference at 4:00. I am so proud of her. She is doing so well in school. I have to take a moment and brag on her.......
Reading Grade 2+=above grade level (highest possible score!)
Writing Grade 3 =poficient (the highest she gives at this point in the year)
Daily Language Review 85%
Math Grade 96%
Spelling Grade 100%
Music, P.E., Art, Work and Study Habits, and Behavior---E for excellent (highest score)
She is reading on a 2nd grade 6 month to 3 rd grade 5 month level. They have a reading program called AR reading (accelerated reading). They set goals for themselves and then read books on their level and then take tests on them. They receive points towards their goal. They should strive for 100%. Hailey has 269%!!! Wow!!! Go Hailey!!!! Her teacher had really great things to say about her which always make you feel good. Also, we got to order her jump rope uniform and she will be practicing two days a week after school until 5:00. Her coach has already set some performances such as: UCA, UALR, and Wampus Cat's basketball as well as, school assemblies across central AR. She starts practice next week so we'll see how that goes!!! I did find out today that 25 kids made it out of 80+ kids that tried out! Can't wait to go watch them! I'll let everyone know when the performances are scheduled in case you would like to see one. Thanks for letting me brag a little today! Take care!

Brian's Deer

Today, I was awakened to Brian's phone call. He went hunting and shot a deer early this morning with his muzzle loader (?). I answered the phone and he was whispering to me and said he was still shaking because he just shot it. It is a 10 point with the splinters and all (whatever that is). Anyway, here is a picture of it. He says he is getting some better pictures developed and will scan them to put on here. This one was taken with his phone so check back for more pics of the deer! He has been carving out the skull all day so it wouldn't rot-YUCK! I hung Halloween decorations while the kids played outside. It was a beautiful day here today. Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

The prize!

Bridal Shower

Today, my mom, Peggy, Lois, and I threw Cosby a bridal shower at my house. It was alot of fun and the food was great. That is one of the best parts of a shower is all the good food you get to eat! We were a good team and all worked so well together to get it all done (and cleaned up) just in time. We had lots of guests and Cosby received some great gifts to get her started! We are all so excited for her and can't wait for the wedding. Hope everyone enjoyed themselves and thanks to the other hostesses for all your help setting up and cleaning up!

After the shower, Momma and I took a much needed nap while the kids played. We then went for pizza and back to our house to watch the Razorbacks loose once again. We are all so disgusted with Houston Nutt right now. It's looking like we may not win a game all year! Oh, well.

Jump Rope Results

Guess what everyone? She made it!!!! Hailey made the jump rope team!!! We are so proud of her. She got her letter Friday at the end of the day and handed it to me in the car when I picked her up. It was sealed and I was supposed to open it. The first word was "Congratulations" and we both just started screaming at the top of our lungs! It is a great achievement seeing how soooo many kids tried out. We did some shopping (for Mom) after that and she just couldn't quit jumping up and down in the store. Way to go Hailey! We are so proud of you!

Field Trip to Lowes

Hayden with his teacher and classmates.

Hayden ready to get to work!

Friday, Hayden had a field trip at Lowes. They took a tour of the store and saw how they cut wood, make keys, etc. Then they went back to a classroom and were given aprons and goggles to keep. They then made a wooden calendar box. They had a great time.

Hayden hammering on his box.

The finished product. He was pretty proud of it!

Doctor Visit

Still no word on jump rope. The coach has been out sick (I called up there yesterday) so who knows when they will find out! Hayden's appointment went great! Thanks to everyone who prayed for him. His doctor is wonderful and she explained exactly what she was going to do and what it would feel like. He just sat and watched her! But then she asked if he wanted his flu shot since we were there. I said sure. So, he wasn't too excited about that but still did well. He cried a little but not loud. It was so sad I thought I would start crying. He went to school after that and I went on to work. Then, my friend at work scared me about getting the flu shot because of the thimerasol. For those of you who do not know, that is the mercury found in some vaccines that some are trying to link to the cause of autism, among other health risks. So, I frantically called the clinic to find out if this vaccine had the thimerasol, and IT DOES! So, I am not going to have Hailey get it. Even though you never hear of children developing autism this late in age, I know there are other risks, too. Of course I REALLY felt bad after that. Here I was holding my baby (who was quietly crying) while they injected him with MERCURY! And I allowed it! I am sure he will be fine, but it is scary! On another note, my lab work came back and my numbers are normal again. After my doctor talks to the head TB doctor, they will let me know if I can continue the medicine or not. Well, gotta go get dinner ready just wanted to update everyone on the doctor visit!

Rainbow

A full double rainbow...WOW!

It started raining here late this afternoon. My mom called and said to go outside and look because there was a double rainbow. It was beautiful! I have had just a bad day.... no real reason, just an off day... a cranky day. When I saw that it reminded me that God is in control and blesses me each and every day. The picture truly does not do it justice. It was the biggest rainbow I think I have ever seen. It stretched clear across the sky and was complete ...end to end. Hayden kept saying he wanted to slide down it!

OK...still no news on jump rope team. I can't believe they haven't told them something yet. It doesn't seem to bother her that she doesn't know anything, thank goodness. I probably want to know more than she does! The kids both went to the dentist today...which they absolutely LOVE! You would think we were going to DisneyWorld or something. Then, off to my doctor so I could give more blood to check my liver tests again. I should know in the next few days what my counts are and if I will be able to continue the medicine or not. I also made Hayden a doctor's appointment for Wednesday morning because he had a wart pop up on his knee and it has grown really fast. I thought it was an ingrown hair at first and then, of course, when I was away, Brian tries to pop it. It was pretty funny because Hailey calls me hysterical telling on him that "he was trying to pop Hayden's bump and Hayden doesn't want him to"! But it is looking really bad and has turned almost blackish purple at the base of it. Pretty gross! I'm sure it is irritated from him being on his knees playing so much. Please pray that whatever they do, it won't be too painful for him. It makes me sad thinking about it for him!

Razorback Game

Hailey and Hayden in front of the BIG Razorback!

We had a good weekend! I picked Hailey up from school on Friday ready to hear the news about jump rope (I even had a prize in the car in case we got disappointing news) only to find out that they didn't find out! I was so aggrevated! Hopefully they will find out tomorrow. She didn't seem to care though. She went to eat pizza with Megan and her family. We took Hayden and went to one of his favorites, that Hailey doesn't like, Firehouse Subs. Then we went to Hastings and Wal-Mart. Saturday morning Hayden had a soccer game. Not much change with his participation. We came home and worked around the house until time to go to the Razorback game. My parents couldn't go with us so we decided not to tailgate. I wasn't feeling very well (sinus and allergies) so we just got there a little early to walk around the stadium. It was VERY hot and humid. We were all sweating like crazy! The game was not very interesting...we just suck! We left after the third quarter. The kids were exhausted! Brian went to the woods this morning to get stuff ready for hunting. He bought a big two person tree stand so he can take the kids some. That will be interesting! Hailey, Hayden and I went to church and then to eat lunch...Faby's. Not too exciting of a weekend, thank goodness! I have some more pictures to post from the game but can't get my camera to cooperate so here are some I took with my phone.
Here is the razorback mascot. He was pretty tired. The kids were amazed!

Jump Rope Tryouts

Hailey and Megan ready to jump!

Kinda fuzzy, but here they are just fixing to start the try-out.

Hailey did great at jump rope tryouts today! She was in the first group of eight that tried-out. I was so glad that Mary-Morgan helped Hailey and showed her how to do the tricks because their was at least one thing they told them to do that wasn't on the list sent home. She did better than she ever did when we practiced. I was very proud of her. Whether she makes it or not-she did AWESOME! They will send a note home with the parents on Friday letting you know if they made it. They take the top 20 scores (regardless of grade) out of 70 kids who tried out! We'll see!!!! Good luck Hailey!

Tuesday, October 2

Well, today was busy. After working and school, we headed to LR to meet Mimi, Kristen, and Hannah to try on dresses for a wedding. The girls are going to be passing out bubbles at a friends wedding and Mimi is buying them some pretty little dresses. They were so excited. We then went to eat and headed back home. Hailey has been practicing jump rope so she can tryout for the jump rope team at school. Tryouts are tomorrow but we hear they only pick 2 second graders so the odds are against us. A friend from church came over last night (who is on the jump rope team) to give her some pointers. She was really sweet and very helpful. Hailey is very nervous, so please say a prayer for her. We've talked about the possibility of not being chosen, as this is the first "tryout" for anything she has had. I think she understands ....I just hate to see her disappointed. So, if she doesn't make it, I guess we will let her do cheerleading since she has been BEGGING us to do it. I just didn't want to get involved in too many things, and the expense but I figure if we don't make jump rope that should ease the pain, right? Haha! Hayden still has a few soccer games left, so we'll see. Well, got to go get clothes ready for school pics tomorrow. I'll let everyone know how tomorrow goes....I get to watch so that will be good! Say a prayer!!!!
