Crawl, Drag, and Squirt

Here is a video clip from Crawl, Drag, and Squirt. Hailey did awesome! She beat out her competitor for the fastest time! She says she gets to go to Toad Suck to compete now. Not sure if that's right...I'll find out and let everyone know. I thought it was just one from each grade that went on to the final competition, but she said it is whoever wins against their competitor so that would be the fastest from each class. We'll see....regardless, we are very proud of her-she did GREAT!!!!

For those who haven't read the other post describing this event....it is put on by the Fire Department. During P.E. they are timed on an obstacle course. The fastest two girls and two boys from each class get to compete at school during the Crawl, Drag, and squirt competition. They complete another obstacle course wearing a fire hat and fireman's jacket. They are penalized 2 seconds for each mistake they make (forgetting to turn off hose, not going through cones, pushing with the mallet instead of hitting, etc.) You'll see all they have to do in the clip. Then, those who win from that go on to race the other qualifiers from the other schools in town at Toad Suck Daze.

Our Spring Break

Weekend before: Garret was in town and the kids were so excited to see him! They all had a sleepover at Mimi & PopPop's on Friday night. They made gingerbread men sugar cookies that kept magically running away! We had big plans for saturday. ...We headed to Hayden's soccer game and it rained the entire game! We had planned on heading to LR to a go-kart track but the rain ruined those plans. So, we took the kids to Cheeburger Cheeburger and then to the IMAX to see Race to Witch Mountain. It was cute and they all enjoyed it. We had planned to go bowling after that but everyone was getting tired so we called it a day.

Day 1: Had lunch at Holly's!!!!! Yummy!!! Then took the kids and Megan to two different parks to play. I have pictures on my phone but am having trouble sending them to my email. I will keep trying though.

Day 2: It was cool and rainy so we went to Pizza Inn for lunch and then to Jump Zone which was packed!!!

Day 3: Headed to Petit Jean with Kristen, Hannah, Jeremy, and Madison. I do have pictures that Kristen sent to me to post....my camera messed up, of course! The kids did great! We saw a "bear cave" and did about 3 different trails. We saw the big waterfall and had a picnic lunch. It was much cooler than we thought so we froze until after lunchtime but still had a good time.

Headed on a hike with our "walking sticks"!

Whoa! Look at these rocks!

Hailey in the hole in the cave.
Of course, I had to do it to get everyone else to go in!
Day 4: Had lots of errands to run. Took my car in to have some work done on it, got my carpets cleaned, and got my hair done! Ball practice....Whew!!!!!

Day 5: Packed for Memphis and had lunch with Mimi! Headed for Memphis for an overnight stay and to go to Memphis Zoo on Saturday. Our hotel was very nice! The pool area was really nice too. The kids had about an hour to swim before it closed at 10:00 p.m. Hailey went to the room early to shower and Hayden hung out in the hot tub!

Day 6: Went to Memphis Zoo and we are all exhausted! I took a TON of pictures and couldn't decide which ones to post, sooooo...I posted most of them. It took forever and some got deleted so I will repost those soon. But, the sea lion show was tootoo cute! We all enjoyed it! The polar bear was AMAZING. I had to take a bunch of pictures of her. We got to see them feed her and we also got to watch the penguins feeding time. It was Enrichment Day at the zoo so lots of extra things to see and learn about. It was a great, but cold, day. We left the zoo at 4:00...were there for 5.5 hours!!!! Whew! Guess who slept on the way home! :)

All in all, we've had a great week. I am not ready to go back to work on Monday and I know the kids aren't either. It makes me really ready for summer break! Can't wait! So glad to be able to be home with them! Such a blessing to be on their school schedule!

It is starting our busy time of year. Hailey continues to have jump rope practice 1X in morning before school and one day/week after school. Her softball practice will be one night per week and she will start having one game/week soon (I will post schedule when we get it). Hayden continues to have soccer practice one night/week, ball practice 2 nights/week, soccer games (1 day on weekend), and will start softball games one night/week soon. Busy!!!!! But all worth it!

Hayden's Soccer Highlights

Here are a few pics and videos from one of Hayden's soccer games. He is doing much better this year. This particular game, he scored 4 goals!!!! He is much more involved in the game and is enjoying it, so we are very excited about that. The last couple of seasons he has begged to play and then just ran around following the other kids on the field. So, we are very proud of him this year! Go Hayden!

The best part, snack time!

Update

I have been soooo busy lately, but do have some pics/video's to post. Hayden is doing so well in soccer and we are so proud of him! I have video to post of his last game. As soon as I get a chance I will do that. Hailey has good news too! She found out today that she qualified for the Crawl, Drag, and Squirt competition for the third year in a row! It is a time obstacle course they do in P.E. The top two times for boys and girls for each class get to compete in the school Crawl, Drag, and Squirt where the firemen come and have an obstacle course for them. The top racers then perform at Toad Suck. She is super excited! Hailey also was the 2nd highest in her class for her reading goal. The top two get to go to the movie with their teacher. She had to get 100% on Accelerate Reading goal and she got over 180%! Woohoo-go Hailey! We are very proud of you, too. We have alot going on this week and next. Next week is mine and the kids spring break and it could not come soon enough! We do have some fun things planned and are all looking forward to Garret coming to spend some time with us this weekend. The kids are going to all have a sleepover at Mimi's and PopPop's, and we have lots of fun things planned for them to do. The kids can't wait to see him! Hope all is well with everyone else....look for pics/videos soon....I hope! :)

Alpha Sigma Tau Alumni Day at the Races

Me & Jill
Becky Lackey, Becky Hardcastle, Jill, and Becky Watson aka The Black Cats (inside joke)

The Crew

Shannon, Robyn, Me, Leslie, Veach, and Jill

On Saturday, the kids stayed with Mimi & PopPop so that Brian and I could go to my sorority reunion at the races. My good buddy, Lee Kat did a great job planning it and we even got tshirts! Go Licky Lackey!!!! You tha bomb! Anyway, we met up there and had a great time reconnecting with each other. Quite a few of us showed up and it was so nice to see everyone! After the races, we had a huge dinner reservation for all of us at a local Mexican restaurant. We ate and visited even more and then left to go to the crab shack for more mingling and DANCING!!! What we all love best! We had a great time. Brian and I decided we'd rather sleep in our own bed, so we came on back home and with the time change and all, it ended up being 1:00 A.M. by the time we got home! We were exhausted! But, we had a great time!

Most of the gang that was there.

Brian and I at the restaurant.

Me & Erin (Becky Watson)

Lee Kat a bit surprised when someone played a joke on her and told the wait staff it was her birthday. They came and put this sombrero on her and she just kept saying, "It's not my birthday, it's not my birthday". We were all laughing so hard.

My good buddy, Robyn, who I miss. We go way back to grad school together...those were the days!

First Soccer Practice

Our little Beckham!
Go Hayden!!!

Hayden had his first soccer practice Friday night. We were worried b/c he wanted to play really

bad, but the last two times he played, he just really didn't interact much in the game. Then, we didn't think they were going to have any coaches, but two highschool soccer players are coaching them and he is FIRED UP!!! You know how he LOVES older girls!!!! We were pleasantly surprised at his performance and attempts. We missed his first game...Mimi & PopPop had to take him for us b/c we were out of town. But, they said he did good and even kicked the ball once! He has another game this Saturday...I will try to post his schedule soon so those of you trying to make a game can pick which one you want to come to.

Jump Ropin' at Booker

Hailey's jump rope team performed at Booker in LR again this year. It was the afternoon after the book parade, so after the parade, Momma and I headed to LR for some shopping and lunch until time for the performance. It is such a fun place for them to perform b/c the students really get into it and makes our kids really get into it. They did really well. In one, they are lined up doing individual routines/tricks they made up. You can't see real well, but Hailey's rope kept hitting her neighbors, so she finally ends her routine and is like "the heck with it!" haha! ANyway thought you all might enjoy seeing a few clips.

Book Character Parade

On Friday, I took off work to attend the kids activities at school. The day started off with the annual Book Character Parade. You are to dress up as your favorite book character and then there is a big parade through the school. The kids really enjoy it. Hailey went as "Junie B. Jones-There's a Peep In My Pocket". We had the brunette wig that I made her from two years ago when she was another Junie B. book. However, she must have played beauty salon since then, because I noticed she had trimmed on the bangs. I made it with a highlighting cap and a swatch of real hair from sally's that I cut and hot glued to the cap. She wore Garret's size 5T overalls and we put a little chick that chirped in her pocket. It was hilarious! Next was Hayden. Of course, he couldn't be something simple. Believe me, I suggested many things. He had his heart set on being the Magic School Bus. So, you guessed it....I HAD to make him a bus costume. I made it the night before. It took me approximately 5 hours to complete! But, he loved it! He wanted to wear it all day. Check out the pictures below....

He had the biggest smile on his face throughout the whole parade. He looked at everyone to make sure they were looking at him...too too funny!
