Saturday at Scott's

Cousins in the Dune Buggy

On Saturday, we headed to my brothers house to cook out and watch the Razorback game. We tease them because they never invite anyone to their house. We really had a good time and hopefully we will get another invite before another 5 years has passed! :) haha! Anyway, the kids had a great time. They went off in the dune buggy (leaving Kristin and I behind but that's OK). Then we just visited and watched the game. The kids had a sleepover so that was kind of nice to have a quiet house at home! Thanks Scott and Kristen. Here are some pictures, too, that Kristen took that evening of them hay bale jumpin'.

Kristen said Hayden wasn't too keen on jumping. He was a little scared.

Thanks Kristen for taking all of these pictures!

Friday Night

On Friday night, we headed to (McDonald's first)the Wampus Cat game. Conway played Cabot and we lost but we had a good time. We met the Solberg's there and the kids had fun together. We saw lots of people from church and just had a really nice time. It will be fun when our kids are that age and (hopefully) we will be cheering them on at their games/activities still. But, I don't want them to grow up that quick either!!!

Humpty Dumpty Sat on a Wall...

Here is my little Humpty Dumpty. He had to pick a character from a Nursery Rhyme and dress up like it and then recite the rhyme. He picked Humpty Dumpty. I made his costume the night before out of a foam poster board for the egg, hat, and wall. And two colored poster boards for the clothes. The band on the hat and the necktie are from felt scraps and the buttons are those little craft puffs. The whole thing cost me $3.00!!!! I was pretty pumped and thought he looked pretty darned cute!

Jump Rope Tryouts

Hailey and Megan waiting to try out.
Hailey and Natalie after tryouts...Whew!
Hayden and the new love of his life, Emily (on right), Natalie's older sister.

Hailey did very good at jump rope tryouts. Here is a short clip of some tricks she put together for her routine. She did well considering she was still pretty weak from being sick. And, GUESS WHAT???? SHE MADE IT!!!! Congratulations, Hailey!! Can't wait to go see you perform!

Good Job Hailey!

We are so proud of Hailey for her Interim Report. She got really good grades far. She got a 94 A in Math; 95 A in Addition Speed Tests; 94 A in Spelling; and an 88 B in D.L.R. She got 3+ Above Grade Level for Reading. In writing, she got a 3 Proficient. She didn't get any behavior marks and her teacher said she is a "Great student, Always gives 100%". Great job Hailey!!!!

Hailey wanted to type something, too......

I am so proud of myself. I'm sick and trying out for jump rope on Wensday.

The Parade

On Tuesday, we went to the parade. It is always something we enjoy doing together and the weather couldn't have been better! Hailey decided that she wanted to ride on her the float for her gymnastics place. She LOVED it!!! She told me all the people she saw along the route. Hayden waved, I swear, almost the entire parade. My niece, Hannah, was on the same float so that was fun for the girls. We sat with Scott, Kristen, Jeremy, Madison, Cheryl (Kristen's mom) and my mom. We all had a good time. Afterwards, Mimi had a sleepover because Brian has been out of town, and we went to Taco Bueno (Hailey's favorite) for dinner. We had a good time together. Here are a few pictures from the parade. Oh, by the way, Hailey's school won 1st place for their float!!! Way to go ES!

Sunday

Sunday, we went to sunday school and then came back home because Brian was headed out to the woods to put his stand, camera, etc. up. I started cleaning house and my parents called to say their power was out. They came to put some meat in our freezer and Momma had a sleepover. Of course, daddy wouldn't stay ...too hard headed. Their power ended up coming back on later in the evening. Luckily, they only lost a few limbs and their power. It was fun though.

My Latest Art Project

My friend, Traci, just had a new baby boy and needed some artwork for the nursery. She and I picked out a couple of pictures from the internet for me to try to duplicate and here they are. I changed the colors to match her nursery which is a blue, goldish yellow, cream, and chocolate brown. She has a giraffe print fabric in the blue and cream. A friend of Traci's made all her bedding and the pictures of it look super cute! Anyway, thought I would post my latest project. I have another canvas I am wanting to do that I saw in a specialty shop. It is super cute (hopefully I can copy it), but my kids have too much on their walls already so I guess I'll just have to wait for another baby to be born....to someone else of course!!!!!

Our Lazy Weekend

Last night we cooked out steaks and rented movies. The kids and I all piled up in our bed to watch Nim's Island. The kids really liked it...I wouldn't know because I fell asleep about halfway through it (around 9:00)! I was soooo sleepy! Now, I usually don't go to bed until around 11:30 or later, especially on the weekends. I was miserable and could not stay awake! This morning, Hailey and I laid in bed watching TV and playing on the laptops. Then, I went shopping with my mom. I wanted to get out for a little while before it started storming. We had lunch and did some shopping then I headed for home. We all played games at the house while watching the weather. We even got to see a funnel cloud pass by from the back yard. It was several miles away and was way up in the sky (never touched down) and shortly after, the sirens went off! They were a little late on that one! Then we all headed down to Hailey's favorite, Taco Bueno, to eat dinner. Now we are waiting for more rain to come tonight from Ike. Luckily, Poppy and Grandma made it through Ike down in TX with 50+ mph winds! WOW!!! Glad you guys are OK! Hope everyone is having a good weekend! Stay safe! Oh, yeah, I thought I would get a little festive (early) with a new blog template...what do you think?

Go Hogs Go!

We had a nice weekend! On Saturday, we went to the Razorback game. Oh my goodness! What a game! We pulled it out! I can't believe it! We took the kids and went with my parents. Hailey was great, Hayden got a bit tired. It was very crowded and didn't clear out much because of how close it kept getting. We ended up staying for the whole game and didn't get home until close to 11:00. We missed Sunday School the next morning but made it to big church. After lunch at Mazzio's with Mimi and PopPop, we had a lazy Sunday afternoon at home. It was nice. Oh, and Hailey had some exciting news....she FINALLY learned how to blow a bubble! I had to take some pics of her to put on here. She is super excited!

Congratulations, Traci

OK, one more shout out to my buddy, Traci. Congratulations to her and her family on the newest edition, little Hampton Patrick was born today around 5:30 weighing 8 lbs 11 oz and 20 inches long! He makes the fourth boy for this family...WOW!!! That is awesome! I am so happy for you guys! Can't wait to see and hold him!

Hailey's Newest Accomplishments

Hailey has come home the past two days with some very exciting news! First, yesterday she came home with news that she had been chosen by the counselor to be an ambassador for her school. This means that she will be called out of class when a new student for her class arrives. She will go to the office and introduce herself to the child and parents and then escort them on a tour of the school. She will then bring them down to their classroom and introduce the student to the class and teacher. She will also introduce her to friends. I guess she will be coming out of that shyness, huh?

Today, she came home with more exciting news. She has been nominated for GT (Gifted and Talented), apparently by a former teacher. You have to meet certain requirements such as high percentiles on your standardized testing, etc. Then once you are nominated, you are tested further. Then I guess they pick the kids from this. I'm not really sure. But, Friday I have to go to a meeting about it. I think it is an honor just to be nominated! Woohoo, go Hailey!!! We are so proud of you and your many accomplishments! Good Luck!

Labor Day Weekend

OK, I am having trouble uploading my pictures. For some reason, I cannot view my pictures...it is only scripting so I can't tell what has been uploaded or comment under the pictures. And I have no idea what order they are in. These are all out of order so you may want to scroll down first and read about our weekend so you will have a clue about what the pictures are from. Check out the cool video, too. I will try to get it fixed ASAP. If any of you blogging girls know how to fix it, please let me know!
Friday, we went to eat at Razorback pizza. We had a nice time and saw several people we knew. The kids enjoyed the gameroom which gave us time to actually have adult conversation! We headed home and on Saturday, Brian and Hayden went to the deer woods again while Hailey and I ran some errands. Later we had Scott, Kristen and the kids over for a cookout. We had a great time, awesome dinner, and enjoyed listening to the Razorback game while the kids rode bikes. After they all came in, we tried to grow Hayden's "Triops" (prehistoric shrimp-like little bugs that hatch from eggs) in his new bug box. Well, it helps if you read ALL the directions. It didn't work out so well and we will have to buy more. But I did get a good laugh because as I am opening the package, I thought I would scream like something was coming out because the kids were all lined up at the bar waiting so intently to see something. Well, I scared Kristen more than anybody who was ready to take pictures of the whole science experiment. It was super funny! We ended up keeping both Jeremy and Hannah and they watched Star Wars and had popcorn and chocolate chip cookies. The next morning, I cooked a big breakfast after we ALL slept in awhile! Later, we headed down to Virginia's for lunch and swimming at the neighbors. The kids enjoyed it very much. Then we left and headed to the Travelers game for a baseball game with Miranda. It was a lot of fun and both the kids got baseballs! They were super excited. On Monday, I went shopping with my mom without children...for part of the time anyway! Hope everyone had a nice relaxing weekend. I wasn't ready to get back into the groove of things!

Wow! Here is a video of Hayden. We were at the pool at Virginia's neighbors house when Hayden said, "I'm going to do a dive". I thought, yeah, right. And he did it! He has never done that before or even talked about doing it. I was so shocked I had to get it on video. And, it was really good! Way to go Hayden! I thought I had a video of Hailey doing hers afterwards but apparently I pushed the wrong button and only got the splash she made...sorry Hailey!
