Vacation Bible School

The week of the 21st through the 25th was Vacation Bible School at our church. I was one of Hailey's teachers and the theme was Outrigger Island. It was a tropical theme, obviously. It was alot of fun decorating. I put some pictures of our room. It was a great week. I always enjoy VBS and so do the kids. Their program was Friday night and I was in Dallas, so I don't have any pics from the program because I had Brian video it for me instead. I had the camera with me!

The sandcastle I made and the palm trees Tanya and I made. We had blue cellophane on the walls with sea creatures behind it. We used burlap for the sandy beach.

More singing.

On Thursday, our church always rents big blow ups for the recreation part of the day. They had this big slide and a bounce house.

Ice Cream Mess

OK, I had to show you guys this picture. We went to the ice cream shop after VBS this day and Hayden got a rainbow swirl ice cream that stained his mouth terribly! It was every color imagineable! Look at the size of that cone! He almost finished it all, too. Hailey and I couldn't come close!

Swimming with Cousins

On Monday, after VBS, we went out to Mimi's and then to Judy's for a swim with the cousins. They had alot of fun. Kristen and I even got in on the fun and jumped off the diving board! We took a stroll down memory lane and did cheerleading jumps and cartwheels off the diving board. It was fun and very hot!!! After we left there, we went back to Mimi's for dinner. It was a Mexican feast...delicious! Everyone was there...Jim and Kay came from Russellville and Jimmy and Peggy, too!

Charades

After dinner, the kids were kind of "wound up" so we decided to have some structured fun. We made up several slips of papers with charade items on them. They really got into it, too! It was so funny! We just wished Sean and them lived closer so all the kids could play together more often.

Birthday Party Weekend!

This weekend was crazy! My brother, Sean, and his two kids, Garret and Michaela came down from Oklahoma. Hannah's birthday party was on Saturday at the pool and then a sleepover. Michaela's birthday party was Sunday at Pizza Inn and Jump Zone. Afterwards, 6 of the cousins/grandkids all went to Mimi's and PopPop's for a sleepover...I know they are CRAZY!!! They were so glad to all be together and it was great to see Michaela. She lives in North Dakota with her mom and is only able to come down for about a month in the summer. It is always amazing how much she has grown!
Happy Birthday, Hannah!

Birthday Party/Reunion

Hayden went on Friday to a birthday party of a set of twins from his preschool, Ian and Reagan. They will be going to his elementary school, too, so he is excited about that. It was at a Go-Kart track/putt-putt course. He had a great time and then got to go home with Drew for a sleepover!
Hailey stayed the night with Mimi & PopPop so Brian and I could go to J'Ville's '88 reunion. He graduated '89 but many of his friends were '88 so we went, too! It was fun! We all then headed over to the piano bar to listen to music and visit/dance some more.

A Week at Poppy's & Grandma's

Well, the kids got back from Poppy & Grandma's (in Texas) on Thursday. They ended up coming home a day early because they were homesick....and I have to say I was happy because I was really missing them too! It was very quiet around here without them. I was very busy running errands that would have been impossible with them so it worked out well but I was super glad for them to be back. Poppy will need some recovery time, too, I am sure! HaHa. While they were there, they went to see Wall-E, went on bike rides, went swimming at a lake, and went to the zoo. I am sure they had a great time. Here are a few picks Grandma took while they were down there.

Well, we left Friday morning to drive the kids to Texas to see Brian's dad and Shirley (aka Poppy & Grandma). It was a very long drive but we made it around 7:30. We had hamburgers and hot dogs and then visited outside on their wonderful back patio. It had such a nice breeze and had a huge fenced yard that I know the kids will enjoy. They will be staying for a week and then Roger will bring them back to us on Friday. I am already missing them and will try to refrain myself and only call once a day, we'll see :) !!! I know they will have a wonderful time because they already have lots of fun things planned. I don't know what to do this week, well, I'm sure I can find SOMETHING to do!!! We stayed the night Friday night and then left around 1:30 to head for Dallas to visit some friends. We had a great dinner at a Cuban restaurant with two other couples, Rudy & Natalie and Todd & Jessica. It was great visiting with you guys! We stayed with Rudy and Natalie and they have a beautiful home and two really cute little girls...thanks guys for letting us stay over! We got up this morning and headed for home about 9:30. We got back into LR at 2:30. We were glad to be home and are pretty tired. I guess I'll have to sleep in in the morning! Haha!!! Brian and I did go on a bike ride together and didn't have to stop every 10 feet for someone to get a drink! It was very nice and cool this evening. We had a nice long ride. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

American Girl Night & Hayden's Baseball Party

On Tuesday, Hailey and Hannah had a girls night out with Mimi. She took off this week for "vacation" but had lots of projects to get accomplished. We painted her kitchen, dining room, and hallway. It looks really pretty. Anyway, she took the girls to go see the American Girl movie, Kitt Kitteridge. They took Hailey's dolls with them. Mimi took them out to eat and then to the movie. They even took their girls in! I got a few cute pics before they left.

While the girls were off to their sleepover with Mimi, I took Hayden to his "baseball" party at Larry's Pizza. This is the moment he has been looking forward to all season.....getting that trophy. He was so excited and has shown it to everyone who comes to the house! After his party, his good buddy, Hayes, got to have a sleepover. It was Hayden's first sleepover with someone not related. They had a great time together. We will have to do it again soon!Hayden and his trophy
Good job, Hayden!

The parade begins....

On the fourth, we went to a pool party and Ronnie and Heather's family's house. We had a great time. Lots of kids to play with (around 15 or so), too! The kids had so much fun, Hailey even said, "This is the best party ever!" Thanks so much for inviting us, guys! We really enjoyed visiting with everyone! We had a potluck, the kids and daddies swam (and a few mom's were gently pushed in :) Haha! Only after Chris was pushed in on top of his son in a floaty boat! Hehe! I have never laughed so hard. I left there with my cheeks so sore from laughing! The kids had a parade and rode their bikes, wagons around the pool, too. We had a blast! Hope everyone had a safe and fun Fourth of July!

Dr. Appointments

On Wednesday, Hailey and Hayden had their well child check ups. Hayden had to get his kindergarten physical and 4 shots to start school! Hailey weighed 52 pounds and is 4 feet tall. Hayden weighed 42 pounds and is 43 inches. During our visit, Hayden had to do his vision and hearing screening. He FAILED his hearing screening! I wasn't that shocked because I have noticed lately that he is not hearing me at all or is not hearing correctly. He will repeat me and it will be either totally off or a little off. Sometimes, he just says, "I didn't hear you". So, I asked them to do tympanograms to see if he had fluid in his ears (a possible reason for a failed hearing screening). He did! His tympanograms were terrible. One ear was completely flat and the other showed a small "hill" on the graph. During this test, it measures the movement of the eardrum. It prints out the results on a graph. The graph should show a peaked mountain with the peak inside a box on an L-shaped graph. She referred us to an ENT and our appointment is in August. Well, then that night about 12:30 a.m., Hayden is screaming crying that his ear hurts. Guess what? EAR INFECTION!!! Needless to say, we did not get much sleep that night and had to go BACK to the doctor that next morning for them to say, yep, it's an ear infection! $15.oo later and one mad momma for them not calling us something in.....we got medicine and hopefully will feel better soon. They even said he could still go swimming because it is an inner ear infection. I'm hoping once the fluid clears out, he will be hearing better, but we will still keep our ENT appointment. I may still run him up to work and do a hearing screening on him myself before then for peace of mind! We tried to go swimming after that and after a dose of antibiotics, but Hayden wasn't feeling well when we got there. He complained of his tummy hurting. So we watched Hailey go down the water slide a couple of times and then headed back home. We all snuggled up in my bed to watch TV and rest and I noticed Hayden felt very warm. He had 100.6 degree temp! I felt so bad!!! He ran fever all day and night, every time the Motrin would wear off. They didn't get to go to their planned sleepover at Nana's so we will reschedule. Instead, we took them to rent a movie and we all layed in bed together with our popcorn and watched The Spiderwick Chronicles. It was good and a little scary!
