Ice, Ice Baby

Well, on Monday (Momma's Birthday...Happy Birthday, Momma!) I left for work that morning in the sleet. As I got halfway to work, my windshield was almost completely frozed over. By the time I got to work, my running boards and halfway up on my Tahoe was solid ice! It continued to sleet as I was there. I finally left around 1:00 as I heard the roads were getting bad. Hailey had been sick the night before and Virginia came up to stay with her. Luckily, she was able to go pick the kids up from school for me, because they got early, too. It continued to sleet/freezing rain throughout the night. Needless to say, we did not have to go to school/work for the next two days! It was fun, but messed my work week up. Here are a few shots from Monday night and then Tuesday morning as all the neighborhood kids enjoyed the ice. Funny thing, Hayden ran outside, laid down on the ground and proceeded to move his arms as if making a snow angel! Hailey and I both started dying laughing. She said, "Hayden, you can't make a snow angel...it's ice!" Brian tried to make it to work, but it took him 30 minutes to go 3 miles on the interstate, so he turned around and came back. We made a "make shift" sled for the kids. After I ran up and down the street pulling 2 kids at a time on the thing, we broke out the 4 wheeler. They had a blast. At the end of the pictures, you will see a couple quick video clips of the action. After sledding, they were pretty cold. My two and Blake & Megan (neighbor friends) came in for some hot chocolate. They played all afternoon and I made us all lunch. They had a really good day! Later we ventured out in the 4wd because I needed groceries BAD! The streets were pretty slick but the Tahoe did great. Pushing the buggy to the car at Wal-Mart was another story! A view from the back door. This looks like snow, but actually, it is solid ice!
Across the street, Tuesday morning. The road was frozed solid!

Random pics while awaiting Muddy's arrival

While waiting on Muddy's arrival (unbeknownst to them), I got a few pics. Hayden's new favorite food is chicken noodle soup. He ABSOLUTELY loves it!!! He can eat the whole bowl and then drinks the broth! Here are a few pics of him and Mimi. Also, I got a few pics of the homemade ornaments and pictures that the kids have made that are hanging. They LOVE looking at these displayed. We hope to add to them each year, however we may need more doorways!!!

Muddy...the newest member of the family

Well, tonight we surprised the kids. Hayden got an early Christmas present....a new chocolate lab puppy. Hayden has been wanting a "big" dog for awhile now. When he talked about a dog, he had a name picked out already, Muddy. So the name fit him perfect! We put a big red floppy bow on his neck, put him in a wooden hunting box with a big red bow and tag. You'll have to read it below. We videotaped the whole thing and it was super cute. We sat the box on the front porch, rang the door bell, and ran in the other door. Of course, the kids went running to the door like always. I videotaped. They saw the box and heard whimpering. They said, "what is that?". Hailey said, "it's Frosty", thinking we were playing a joke on them. We carried the box in and read the tag. Hayden opened it and they were shocked! All you heard was "awwwww!!". It was so much fun! They LOVE him!!!! Hayden has followed him and kissed him all night. He is super cute. So far, no peepee's in the house!!! He did climb under the Christmas tree and on the presents. We were like, "awww how cute". Then he came out and pooped right in front of the tree! Thank goodness for hardwood floors! He has peepee'd each time we have taken him out. Then he climbed on a present and pooped on it!! Agggh!!! The next time he went to the tree, I grabbed him and took him outside, and he POOPED!!!! Yay!! I can't believe I am discussing poop on here, but I thought it was a pretty good first night! He is whining quite a bit off and on. Frosty nipped at him once and it traumatized Hailey for most of the night. She is so worried about little Muddy. But after that she has been fine. Mainly either totally leaving him alone or following him around. He looks like a little bear. Hayden can't wait to take him hunting and swimmin! I took just a "few" pictures, Hahah! Check him out below!

Our Christmas Tree

Thought I would take a couple of pics of our Christmas decorations. We have 3 Christmas trees decorated and the kids just love them all! I haven't gotten pictures of it yet, but I hang all their handmade goodies across the opening into the living room. That way everyone can see them when they walk into the house and I get to decorate the tree in a "theme", sortof. They just LOVE looking and counting how many handmade things they have up there. If you ask them, they can tell you exactly how many they have. We add more as they come home with stuff. I will take pictures of it next and post it on here. Hope everyone is having a good week so far! We are counting the days until Christmas!!!!

For some reason, the colors don't show up very well, but my tree is green and red. I changed it last year, so this is the second year I have had a "grown up" tree. I decided the kids could decorate their own so I could decorate this one.

On Thursday, not only did we celebrate Thanksgiving, but it was my birthday, too! The kids enjoyed telling everyone. We went to my mom & dad's for dinner. We got out there early so that the kids could play. Hailey & Garret enjoyed climbing the tree in the front of Mimi & PopPop's yard. Brian said that one time, Hailey got up there so high she could not get down. He had to climb up and get her!!! Then we got together a game of kickball. It was hilarious and I think we were all sore the next day. We had a great time! We all then came in for a delicious dinner and pumpkin pie for dessert! Yummy! Later, the kids enjoyed playing charades and win, loose, or draw. Afterwards, Momma/Daddy/Brian/ Sean and I all played Scrabble. We had a great time and enjoyed teasing each other! Hope everyone else had a great Thanksgiving! Now it's back to work and school :(
